Together we are more! [ENG]

We as an electoral alliance have a strict spine! Our goal is to built Student Union OSAKO for everybody. And these are the thing we want:

- We must develop Student Union OSAKO from the perspective of a singular student.

- The young, the adults, the Finnish and the foreign students should have same possibilities to participate in the student activities. We all should be able to represent each other, in and outside of Oulu UAS.

- OSAKO should know better what are the needs of smaller special groups (for ex. foreign students). We demand that everyone would get equal student representing and student services.

- The Student Union is a collective force that can unify the student movement inside Oulu UAS. We are against old fashioned identities of different fields of study, let’s build this community together for everyone!

Very nondescript and indefinite points. By the third one, the message is quite clear. A one trick pony not interested in doing the complex job at hand but instead trying to run a narrow agenda. In this case taking from the perceived majority in order to give a small elite of their choice more. In this case, apparently non-foreign students can just go to hell.

This is basically how all "equality" movements function.

By Finnish standards, spineless.

Thank you for the comment.

The problem is that the Student Union representatives have no clear idea what are the real problems of foreign students´ studies and living.

But this system is not one-way-only! How can anyone represent others if they don´t tell what they want? This is why our electoral alliance first demands equality for.ex. in communications that all would know their rights, and possibly know who to contact when problems occure.

The elite you refere to is simply a punch of active students. The gab between active students and those who don´t want to partisipate is huge. It is almost obligatory that those who know what they are doing are accused of misusing their position. Still, OSAKO´s democratic organization won´t let this happen, co´s the role of the representative board is quite strong.

Well you cant have problem solving ideas from foreign student if you dont have foreign students in you organization.

This is exactly what we are saying... We are trying to demand tools that everyone can participate. OSAKO as an organization is quite open for anyone to do politics, culture or just learn.

The Student Union organized an Open Mike event 15.10. but nobody came to tell their ideas to Student Union representatives. There are plenty of tools to work for one´s rights, but general interest is poor. Why?
